For Regina Camacho, it’s the small victories that leave the biggest impact. A teenager, struggling with anxiety, is given a simple challenge: show up to a drop-in session and socialize. They hesitated. They pushed back. And then they rose to the occasion. Watching that happen is the kind of moment that reminds Regina why this work matters.
Regina joined Youth Outreach Services just over ten months ago as a Bilingual Clinical Counselor, serving primarily high schoolers and some middle schoolers out of Melrose Park. Her work spans mental health, substance abuse counseling, and general youth support, with a deeply collaborative approach that extends well beyond the therapy room. She involves families at every turn, scheduling family sessions, meeting with caregivers, and providing resources and homework designed to carry the work home.
In less than a year, Regina has built a caseload of 13 clients while maintaining quality care and sharp documentation. Her colleagues have taken notice.
“Although she has been with us for under a year, she has shown impressive growth in her role,” one team member shared. “She quickly learned the required documentation, maintains accuracy, and takes initiative in correcting mistakes in a timely manner. That commitment shows up in how she shows up for her team too. Regina communicates closely with schools, social workers, teachers, and probation officers, and assists with translating for clients and their families as needed. Her colleagues describe her as a supportive, reliable presence who others are glad to have in their corner.
