Youth Outreach Services (YOS) offers a variety of programs and services designed to support runaway and homeless youth, including:
- Transitions Program: The YOS Transitions Program provides safe homes and care to runaway and homeless youth for up to 18 months. To meet this need, YOS partners with dedicated foster families willing to provide housing, encouragement and the support youth need to succeed. In partnership with these foster families, the Transitions Program helps youth learn the life skills they need to live on their own; identify connections to community resources, such as support groups, schools and churches; achieve educational and career goals; successfully transition to independence. For more information, view the Transitions Program Fact Sheet.
- Comprehensive Community-Based Youth Services (CCBYS): YOS CCBYS provides crisis assistance to youth who have run away from home or have been kicked out of their house. Specifically, staff help youth through crises, reunite families when possible, providing counseling to youth and families, and help youth find a safe place to live.
- Counseling Services: YOS Counseling Services help youth overcome challenges that lead to addiction, such as low self-esteem, drug and alcohol abuse, gang involvement, poor school performance, delinquency and family conflict. Specific services include Substance Abuse Intervention, Counseling and 24/7 Crisis Intervention.
- Mentor Program: Volunteer mentors serve as positive role models, helping to keep kids safe and on a path toward success by supporting their academic progress, career goals and personal interests.
